I don't want to get off the ship!

This morning we packed up all our belongings and then waited in the mid-deck restaurant until it was time for us to get off the ship. Eliza took that opportunity to climb HUNDREDS of stairs all over the place, making Mommy and Daddy take turns chasing her up and down flights of steps.

She knew we were leaving the ship for good, and started lamenting about missing her giant, shiny playground. Stay tuned: we'll be posting a vacation slide show in the next few days...

rocking out on the Lido Deck

During the evenings aboard the Carnival Conquest they play movies and videos on a gigantic LCD screen.

I captured this video of Eliza as she began to rock out to some sappy pop song.

By the 5th day, she owned the ship

Here's Eliza and her innocent smile...moments before she goes crazy and runs all over the Lido deck on the ship, screaming wildly.

Ahoy from Grand Cayman!

We loved visiting Grand Cayman, and not just because there was a ton of "piratey-themed" stuff all over the place. Eliza loved the beaches, exotic plants, and seeing the occasional wild chicken running around.

We finally got her feet in the sand

Eliza loved the water, but HATED the sand. She wouldn't go near it without making a fuss. Eventually we were able to coax her into the grainy stuff when she wanted to take another fun dip in the water with Daddy.

We are still cleaning this sand out of everything, days later.

Eliza had a lot of fun in the sun today, and she needed to crash in the shade for a while to recharge her baby batteries.

Mommy and Eliza walking the Jamaica market

Daddy snapped photos and stayed with the stroller while Mommy and Eliza were hounded by people in the market to buy their wares. E walked away with some pretty good deals.

getting ready to go explore Montego bay

The ship docked at 8am, and we set out in search of adventure (after breakfast)...

Greetings from the high seas!

Taking care of business

Before the ship departed Galveston, Eliza ha some important baby business to take care of while she still had wireless coverage.

Bring on the refreshements!

Mommy and Eliza wasted no time getting to the important part of our cruise once we got on the ship: eating and drinking!

We had a nice little spread of food at our table, until Daddy realized there were 3 more buffet areas down the promenade and went out to get more food for his girls.

she's her own favorite internet star

these girls love to smile

Eliza is in a phase where she doesn't like to have her photo taken (or at least stay still to have her photo taken), so all it took was some funny noises and jumping by Mommy and Grammy to her her laughing.

exploring the beach with Lulu

We headed out to the beach for a fun Monday acitivity, and Eliza really enjoyed her day of sand and surf. Although she didn't really like having her feet in the water when the tide came in. We'll have to see how she does in Montego Bay next week.

picnic in the park with Grammy Lu

Lulu came to visit this weekend, and we started out the festivities by going to opera in the park. Eliza had a fun time playing with her Grammy and listening to the music.

Eliza's been learning some new words

Mommy did a pop quiz with Eliza to show off some of the newest words that she's been using frequently.

If you add these to the things that she's already saying and the total is up around 15 words. Smarty pants!

watch out grocery store!

Eliza was kinda sleepy in the car, so Daddy decided to put her in the stroller car - in case she wanted to rest some more.

Well, she perked right up and had the best shopping trip EVER, as she honked at other shoppers, and did several shopping cart stunts with Daddy.

Happy Mother's Day!

Eliza feeding her fries to the birds

We ate outside for lunch, and Eliza loved watching all the greedy birds circle our table, waiting for scraps. She realized that they'll stay around longer if she tossed them her french fries.

oh my, how she's grown!

Here's a comparison taken from the night we adopted Eliza one year ago. She's definitely turning into a little kid!

(You have no idea how hard it was to get her to lie down for this photo today)

Can't believe it's been a year already!

Here's the video from Mother's Day weekend last year, when we first met our baby girl. It's hard to believe that she used to be such a tiny, little thing!

Best year ever!

Tupperware in the toilet

Tupperware in the toilet, originally uploaded by littlelostrobot.

Eliza loves raiding the tupperware cabinet and then delivering the items all over the house. Tonight she had already deposited some containers in the laundry basket.

And when I went to put some stuff in the bathroom linen closet, she sneaked in behind me a dumped some Tupperware in the toilet bowl.

She's crazy with these plastic containers!

This morning Eliza - despite her cold symptoms - ran around the house, bringing cheer to everyone. She wore her favorite blankie as a cape, and kicked around the soccer ball, all while singing and dancing along the way.
