Today we strolled around downtown Greenville, and baby Eliza stopped for a moment to pose with Revolutionary War hero Nathanael Green (the father of Greenville). How did she know it'd make for a perfect photo leading up to Independence Day this week? That's one smart baby we got here.
Eliza loves feeding herself, but she's not quite ready for the bigger bottles. Since it was hot outside today, we decided to give her some cold water in a practice bottle. She did pretty well!
Her trick: using her her feet to lift the bottle.
Here's another shot from the red carpet! Daddy won the Emmy for "On Camera Talent - Performer" and Mommy won the BIG award for "Best Newscast".
Of course, the best little award is the little lady in this photo. She's never gonna let us that that tiara off now.
Just after Grandma Cathy left, Aunt Karey showed up the next day to spend some time with little Eliza. And from the looks of it, they're becoming fast friends. This weekend we're all going to take a trip to Atlanta, where I'm sure we'll take plenty more cute photos.
Eliza went in for her 6 month doctor's visit today, where she practiced one of her favorite pastimes: kicking the hell out of the exam room paper. She also got a round of shots - which didn't go over so well. She screamed and cried, but seemed to forget all about it by the time she got to the car.
Here's her new vital stats:
Height: 26.5” - (65th percentile)
Weight: 15 lbs, 9 oz - (30th percentile)*
Head: 43.5 cm - (70th percentile)
Basically, she's weighs a pound more and is an inch taller. Way to go, baby!
Daddy was trying to feed Eliza some food tonight, but she kept trying to snatch away the spoon for herself. So he decided to let her try to feed herself. It's funny to watch her eat the food, get revulsed, and then attempt to eat it again.
Who are we kidding? It's all about baby around here, but Daddy had a wonderful time playing with his little lady today. They started off the day by reading some books given to him by the ladies: "Daddy's Kisses" from Kyann, "Daddy's Cuddles" from Grammy Lew, and "I Love Daddy" from Grandma Cathy.
Later, Eliza helped Daddy upload photos to her photo gallery and took a really long nap while the grown-ups did all the chores.
This morning while eating breakfast and getting ready for work, I noticed Eliza gnawing on her new plush piggy. Up until this point she has mostly shown signs of being a vegan: eating only pureed vegetables and drinking soy milk. Now daddy has another person he has to share bacon with.
Thanks, Anne and Dennis for Mr. Pigglesworth
This'll probably be one of the only videos or photos we'll post in which Eliza isn't smiling or shrieking with delight. Instead, we get a glimpse of her sometimes weird baby nightmares. I imagines she's dreaming of her bottle running out of formula, or being eaten by a giant blanket.
After a brief trip to Babies-R-Us with Grandma Cathy, Eliza walked away (or rather, strolled away) with this nifty activity mat. She basically lies on the ground and reaches up to pull or smack around adorable stuffed animals. It certainly must be fun because Mommy couldn't wait to get in on the action.
Eliza has finally decided to weigh-in and lend her support to Democratic presidential hopeful, Barack Obama. She believes in his campaign for change - despite that her idea of "change" often involves diapers.
